President Gubuza paid a visit to Homoine, the district capital which is 10k west of Inhamussua, a couple weeks ago. We first heard about his upcoming visit about a month before hand, and everyone was busy getting ready for him. The school sent a truckload of kids to Homoine everyday for the month before to clean up the city and make it look nice for the president. The kids learned all sorts of patriotic songs and practiced them every night. All their practice paid off because a small group got to sing right in front of the president, which was pretty cool to watch. We went out to Homoine and gathered around a big airfield leftover from the war and waited for his helicopters to arrive - he flies around the country with an entourage of five helicopters. And of course, about five mintues before they landed, the sky opened up and it started pouring down rain. A little rain didn't kill anybody's spirit though and everyone kept cheering, singing, and dancing anyway. It's highly illegal to take a picture of the president so I had to be careful since we don't exactly blend into the crowd…but I managed to get a few pictures of the scene.
